Membership Annual Report

Membership had an exciting, fun filled year.                                   We held our Newcomers Dinner at Broken                                   Arrow. The food was great and we had a couple of “surprise” guests when the Little People showed up. I bet the new members wondered what they got their selves into.

The church picnic was held in August. Although the rain showed up, so did many parishioners. The turn out was really good and we were well protected under the pavilion. Although we had to spend most of our time under that pavilion, we were well entertained. It was hard to say who the bigger hit was! From Jammer, to the magician, to the clown, everyone had their own favorites. The hard part of the day was trying to figure out the vestry members’ baby photos. That was far tougher than I had expected. I was a great day of fun and fellowship for our parish.

We also began that difficult task of a new directory. Although it’s hard work, it’s always worth the effort when it’s done.

2008 will again be a fun and exciting year for St John’s. The Newcomers Dinner will again be held at Broken Arrow. We will be making sure that this is at least as entertaining, and hopefully even more than the last one. Remember to expect the unexpected.

Hopefully we will have sun on the day of our picnic, but if not, I’m sure we will still be entertained. Who knows whose baby photos will show up this year?

In 2008 we will also be reviving our Newcomers Bread Program. We just have a few details to iron out and this will again be underway.

Again, we would like to thank everyone for their participation and support. 2008 will be another great year for fun and fellowship at St. Johns

Respectfully Submitted,

Patty Paris

Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a specialized food                                   assistance program for members of St.                                   John’s parish. Gifts of fully prepared, home cooked meals are delivered to homes of parish family members who are sick and unable to cook, for families who are caring for an ill loved one, someone just home from the hospital or a senior member in need of an extra pair of hands.

Meals are donated from parish members willing to cook just one or two extra servings of food when making their own meals. They are immediately frozen, delivered to the Parish Hall, where they are put into the freezer until distribution.

We have received many Thank You notes from very grateful persons who have received meals during 2007. I would like to say THANK YOU to all of you who cook and deliver these very special meals.

If you know of anyone needing a meal or you would be interested in preparing meals please contact the church office.

Thank you and God Bless

Treasurer’s Report

As my first year as Treasurer closes, I would like to report that overall, St. John’s is in good financial health. Parish income was sufficient to meet expenses and St. John’s ended 2007 with a slight surplus. Although income for the year overall was down, we were able to hold the line on expenses for the year. As a result, we ended 2007 with a surplus of approximately $2,000. During my first year as Treasurer, we have implemented several changes in the office I hope will take the Treasurer’s office to the next level of service for the congregation.

The 2008 budget reflects a balanced budget overall and we have done a thorough job of estimating expenses for the new year. Although diocesan support for St John’s has decreased for 2008, pledged income is up considerably for the year. We will need to monitor parish expenses and income carefully during the year to ensure we maintain the balanced budget.

Additionally, I will be looking a new ways to improve efficiency in the Treasurer’s office, including a possible change in the parish accounting software.  As Treasurer, I am committed to making every effort to carefully manage the parish expenses and cash flow responsibly during the

year.  Thank you.

May 2008 be a healthy and prosperous year for you and your family. God Bless!

Your brother in Christ,

Jim McMillan, Treasurer
