Outreach Committee….
St. John’s Outreach Committee, through our budget, committee fundraisers, and generous parish support, is responsible for selecting organizations to receive financial, material and prayerful, compassionate support from our parish family.
Additionally, St. John’s Outreach strives to make available help for families thrust into need over loss of job, medical illness and the financial challenges of single parenting in our local community and our own faith community
In 2007 the Outreach Committee has been very active in various ministries including the distribution of Food and Gift Baskets not only at the Holiday seasons of Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas but the entire year. The outpouring for Christmas 2007 was phenomenal.
Other ministries supported by the Outreach Committee are:
United Thank Offering, The Society for the Increase of Ministry, Episcopal Relief Fund, Bishop’s Millennium Goals and we have recently added Prison Ministry.
Additional organizations which have been recipients: Lockport area FISH pantry, Pediatric Hospice and Joliet Area Hospice Home, and also Parkinson’s Foundation.
The honorary fund, Austin’s Empire, established in loving memory of Austin Fucilla was first disbursed in 2007. This is an annual gift, benefiting pediatric cancer research and/or compassionate care to establishments such as, Hospice, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, etc.
Moving into 2008 the Outreach Committee anticipates going above and beyond what has been achieved in 2007. We will continue our focus on local area needy and the continued support of area hospice and begin stretching our goals worldwide. We will not only focus our efforts in our country, but will try to aid the oppressed to continue their fight for Christianity in other countries. |

Daughters of the King
The Daughters of the King will celebrate our first year this May. We had five active members. Two of the five have moved to other locations.
We have one new member to be installed this spring and two others considering becoming members.
This year we formalized our program of prayer. We also studied several books and worked in many capacities for our parish. |

The Junior Outreach Team will also become more active in 2008. They will be hosting their first fundraiser to help them further Parkinson’s Research. The Outreach Committee continues to sponsor, guide and support the new Junior Outreach team.
We look forward to an exciting new year and as always are so thankful for the constant and heartfelt gifts provided by our parishioners which enable us to continue in our efforts.
